Infectious diseases

Infectious diseases, caused by pathogenic microorganisms such as bacteria, viruses, parasites, and fungi, are transmitted directly or indirectly from person to person. The burden of tuberculosis (TB), HIV/AIDS, malaria, and neglected tropical diseases (NTDs) remains particularly high, with the global goal of ending them by 2030 (SDG 3.3). The key to ending these infectious diseases lies in identifying undetected patients and providing them with appropriate treatment. However, many countries with a high burden of these diseases face challenges in accessing healthcare, often due to equipment and technical constraints

The COVID-19 pandemic has exacerbated these challenges, causing disruption and damage to health systems worldwide. It has also underscored the urgent need to strengthen health systems, particularly in low- and middle-income countries, and to enhance preparedness and response for future pandemics. Rapid, accurate, and easily accessible testing for infectious diseases is crucial for strengthening health systems.
Eiken Chemical's management philosophy revolves around "Protecting the health of the public through healthcare services." Leveraging the Loop-Mediated Isothermal Amplification (LAMP) method, we offer a low-cost test for infectious diseases that is faster, more accurate, and simpler to process. The LAMP method facilitates testing for infectious diseases even in resource-constrained environments, thereby improving access to healthcare. By doing so, we contribute significantly to advancing global goals of SDGs.
