Sickness can arrive unexpectedly for anyone.
The invisible happiness of good health
is something we take for granted until it’s gone.
Clinical testing cannot cure any illness.
However, by quickly and accurately detecting signs of disease,
clinical testing supports the fight against it.
For precisely this reason, we continue to devote ourselves to further advances in this field.
We hope our efforts will help to ease the anxiety of people currently struggling with disease, even if only a little bit,
and support the medical professionals who take on such heavy responsibility in these struggles.
Humanity’s war against disease is endless.
However, medical treatment continues to improve, thanks to the work of people who simply refuse to give up.
Advancements in clinical testing are changing medicine in fundamental ways.
Happiness lies in the everyday life that people take for granted.
We will continue to support this healthy everyday life, now and forever.
Saving Your Health
All for your smiles, All for your happiness,
We continue to devote ourselves to further advanced.
Clinical diagnostic reagents can detect illness before you even notice anything is wrong. There are obstetric tests carried out before birth, metabolic abnormality screenings for newborns, and medical tests for schoolchildren. Eiken Chemical also provides reagents for other testing such as cancer screening and lifestyle disease diagnostics which may be familiar to you.
In order to support the lives of large numbers of people, we will continue to promote dissemination of colorectal cancer screening through fecal immunochemical test, urine testing for kidney disease, and stratified gastric cancer risk assessments for early detection of this disease both inside and outside of Japan, as well as other initiatives for further development, dissemination, and education related to clinical diagnostic reagents.
After World War II, the dysentery epidemic infected more than 100,000 people and killed more than 20,000. In 2003, SARS spread rapidly all over the world.
Since Eiken Chemical’s founding in 1939, we have continually focused our efforts on development and expansion of clinical diagnostic reagents, working to improve health and safety in Japan.
And now, we have expanded the scope of our mission to the whole world. Eiken Chemical’s colorectal cancer diagnostic products are being increasingly adopted in national screening programs worldwide. Use of our urinalysis test strips in health checkups is becoming an established practice. To eliminate menacing diseases such as tuberculosis and malaria, we are developing kits and coordinating with developing countries, among other actions. Through these activities, with a wealth of accumulated technology and pride in our accomplishments, we will continue these and other initiatives to support healthy living worldwide.
Contributing to global health through the power of clinical testing: To achieve this goal, Eiken Chemical must transcend the traditional bounds of clinical diagnostics, constantly changing and advancing.
Some examples of this include the development of companion diagnostic reagents to support the individualization of medicine and a POCT platform suited to the primary care field, as well as entry into new fields such as risk diagnostics and wearable health devices. Through open innovation driven by industry-government-academia collaboration, we will continue to pursue the ideal new form of clinical testing to support global health.
Companies that fail to operate in harmony with the global environment cannot survive.
Through initiatives such as our environment management system, Eiken Chemical achieves environmental conservation in our manufacturing processes.
In addition, this is not limited to manufacturing processes. To promote the spread of clinical diagnostic reagents and systems in developing countries without the same level of testing infrastructure as developed countries, we are engaged in development of products such as reagents which do not require refrigeration and reagents which can be used for genetic testing without any specialized equipment required. In order to disseminate clinical testing to the world as a whole, we will continue to promote the development and provision of products suited to the global environment.
