Creating an Environment Where Cheerful Employees Can Feel at Ease in Their Work

In August 2019, Eiken Chemical announced the “Declaration of Healthy Management,” a plan which aims to enable to keep all employees healthy and cheerful in their work every single day. This policy established a “Healthy Management Promotion System” as a coordinated effort of the Company and its employees, and a variety of other systems have been created as well.

We hereby declare our intent to develop a workplace environment for healthy, cheerful, and lively work activities and strive to maintain and improve our employees’ physical and mental health.

Support for Cancer-Related Testing Expenses

Support for Cancer-Related Testing Expenses

Eiken Chemical’s mainstay products and services are used to test for cancers such as gastric, colorectal and prostate cancer. Employees of Eiken Chemical can undergo these tests free of charge or with partial expense support from the Company.

Health Checkups for Employees and Families

The rate of uptake of regular health checkups among Eiken Chemical employees is 100%. The Company recommends that employees’ family members (35 years of age and up) also undergo health checkups. Also, employees are provided with health seminars and guidance in collaboration with health insurance societies.

Vaccination support

All employees can receive expense support for vaccination against influenza. Vaccination can even be provided on Company premises. Employees dispatched on business trips overseas and employees who handle tissue-derived biomaterials are provided with the necessary vaccinations.

Stress checks are available to all employees once a year, while managers are provided instruction on caring for the employees in their production lines. Moreover, health consultation offices are established in each workplace, providing arrangements for consultation with occupational-health physicians.

Reinstatement support

Reinstatement support

In the event of injury or illness, employees can take long-term leave up to two years, so they can focus on their treatment with peace of mind. After they return to work, employees who need to undergo regular treatment while they resume work can use programs for reporting to work before or after rehabilitation therapy or for shortened hours due to rehabilitation therapy. These programs enable employees to work while continuing to receive treatment.

Non-smoking days and non-smoking times are implemented. Eiken Chemical plans to issue a Company-wide non-smoking declaration in or after April 2024.

In Tochigi Prefecture, where Eiken Chemical’s plant and research laboratory are located, the Company participates in community relay races, softball tournaments and adult soccer leagues. These activities strengthen ties of friendship with local companies and other members of the regional community.

Promoting Health and Safety

Eiken Chemical is committed to preventing occupational accidents (including commuting accidents). The Company establishes Heath and Safety Committees in each location, furnishes comfortable workplace environments and strives to improve workplace safety. To reduce accidents among sales personnel, the Company promotes safe driving in numerous ways. In addition to instilling strong safety awareness, Eiken Chemical introduces effective resources to reduce accident risk and support safe driving. We also prepare for disasters such as major earthquakes and fires and the spread of infectious disease. The Company prepares response manuals and conducts regular education and training, to prevent harm to people and achieve quick recovery.
