We participated in the TICAD9 Business Expo & Conference, held in Yokohama from August 20–22, 2025, as part of the 9th Tokyo International Conference on African Development (TICAD9). At our exhibition booth, we introduced our initiatives and products contributing to healthcare in Africa. In addition, we took part in a healthcare-focused session, where we presented successful case studies from our activities across Africa.
Our Exhibition Booth
At the exhibition, we showcased our colorectal cancer screening system, OC-Sensor and our molecular tuberculosis (TB) diagnostic system TB-LAMP. Our booth was honored by visits from distinguished guests including Mary Muthoni Muriuki, Principal Secretary for Public Health and Professional Standards, Ministry of Health of Kenya; Peter Sands, Executive Director of The Global Fund; and Patrick Amoth, Director General for Health, Ministry of Health of Kenya. Together with Diederik J. van Vliet, Managing Director of our global distributor Human Diagnostics worldwide (Wiesbaden, Germany), we also presented TB-LAMP.

Organizers: Stop TB Partnership and Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare
As an example of public–private partnership and innovation toward ending TB, we highlighted our initiatives to address healthcare challenges and improve access to care in Africa. In particular, our TB-LAMP molecular diagnostic system was presented as a solution already being implemented in several African countries by our Representative Executive Officer and Chairman, Notomi, the inventor of the LAMP method.

As an example of applying infectious disease control technologies in society, including TB, our partner organization KNCV Nigeria introduced the use of TB-LAMP for active case finding in Nigeria. During a panel discussion, our Senior Vice President and Executive Officer, General Manager, R&D Division, Yasuyoshi Mori, spoke on how our technologies are being applied in the field, the local challenges encountered, and opportunities for collaboration with African partners. He also delivered a message for the next generation, underscoring the importance of driving sustainable infectious disease control.

We reviewed the achievements of our Project for Global Growth of Medical Technologies in Africa over the past ten years and highlighted our efforts to promote TB diagnosis in Zambia using TB-LAMP. In the panel discussion, panelists exchanged perspectives on advancing these initiatives further and fostering broader collaborations.

A celebratory gathering held in honor of Dr. Abdoulaye Djimdé, recipient of the 5th Noguchi Hideyo Africa Prize. At this event, our Representative Executive Officer and Chairman, Tsugunori Notomi, delivered a speech. The gathering provided a platform for active dialogue and networking across different fields and perspectives, focusing on infectious disease responses, international collaboration, and the intersection of climate change and health.
