EIKEN CHEMICAL CO., LTD. Receives the 13th Zero Malaria Award

— Recognizing Contributions to Malaria Elimination through Malaria LAMP—

Eiken Chemical Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as “the Company”) is pleased to announce that it has received the 13th Zero Malaria Award, in recognition of its continued efforts toward achieving zero malaria.

Established in 2014, the Zero Malaria Award honors individuals and organizations that have made significant contributions to malaria elimination. In addition to research and development and medical support, the award evaluates a wide range of initiatives based on their social impact and future potential. It also aims to raise awareness of malaria as a pressing global health issue and to promote collaboration among diverse stakeholders.
The Company is honored that its initiatives have been recognized as contributing to these objectives.

Recommendation by Dr. Shigeyuki Kano, Japan Institute for Health Security

The Company’s receipt of this award was made possible through the recommendation of Dr. Shigeyuki Kano of Japan Institute for Health Security (JIHS).

Dr. Kano is a leading authority in malaria research and has long emphasized the importance of malaria control and elimination from a global perspective. The Company regards this recognition—based on Dr. Kano’s expert assessment of its efforts in malaria diagnosis and control—as highly meaningful.

The Message Embodied in “World Malaria Day”

World Malaria Day, observed annually on April 25, was established by the World Health Organization (WHO) to raise awareness of the global malaria situation and to promote strengthened prevention, treatment, and research efforts worldwide.

The theme for 2026 is “Driven to End Malaria: Now We Can. Now We Must.”
While the possibility of eliminating malaria is becoming increasingly tangible, the global community is also being urged to address stagnating progress and emerging risks with renewed determination.

To symbolize the message embodied in World Malaria Day, Dr. Kano created the calligraphic work titled “World Malaria Day.”

Looking Ahead

EIKEN has identified improving access to healthcare as one of its material priorities and conducts its business with the mission of delivering high-quality diagnostic technologies reliably to people who need them. Building on the initiatives recognized through this award, EIKEN will continue to collaborate with researchers, healthcare professionals, and relevant institutions in Japan and abroad, and to contribute through diagnostics to efforts addressing malaria and other infectious diseases.
