OC-FCa™ Reagent

Fecal Calprotectin Test

OC-FCa™ Reagent

OC-FCa Reagent is for quantitative measurement of calprotectin in faeces using automated faecal test analyser, OC-SENSOR PLEDIA and OC-SENSOR Ceres. OC-Auto Sampling Bottle 3, which is common with FIT, can be used for Faecal Calprotectin (FCa) testing. OC-Auto Sampling Bottle 3 and OC-SENSOR are widely used in over 45 countries worldwide.

Advantages of OC-FCa

OC-FCa can provide significant improvement in below three points regarding productivity;

Point 1. For patients, use the same OC-Auto Sampling Bottle 3, as fecal immunochemical test (FIT). Only one-time collection by the patient with lower gastrointestinal symptoms.

Point 2 . For laboratories, no specimen extraction required after collecting stool by patients.

Point 3. For doctors, getting the result of both FIT and Calprotectin in a short time, help predict the risk of colorectal cancer, advanced adenoma, inflammatory bowel disease, etc.

  • There are other advantages as follows;
  1. The wide measurement range (up to 2,720 μg/g) reduces the workload of retesting samples with high concentrations.
  2. OC-Auto Sampling Bottle 3 can be stored at room temperature (1-30 °C). It can be provided to patients in the same way as vacant specimen containers.
  3. Reagents, Control and Calibrator are ready-to-use (required to be refrigerated).

Principle of Latex agglutination immunoturbidimetry

Latex Reagent for OC-SENSOR series is an immunoassay test reagent and used together with an automatic analyzer for measurement of calprotectin in stool. Latex Reagent contains the latex particles coated with anti-human calprotectin antibodies for optical measurement of the latex agglutination reaction.

The change in absorbance per unit time resulting from the latex agglutination reaction is proportional to the concentration of calprotectin in the sample. A dose response curve of the absorbance unit (OD) vs. concentration is generated using the results obtained from the calibrators. The concentration of calprotectin in the patient sample is determined from this curve.
